Over the years, in the periods that I’ve been dieting, the one thing that has worked really well has been Weight Watchers. Before covid lockdown I’d often go to the in-person sessions, where you would get weighed. Those were good as you get a chance to chat to others in the same boat about your diet struggles. Since covid, I’ve just stuck to using the Weight Watchers App for tracking my food, which is really useful.
When you join Weight Watchers, they assign you a daily points allowance, which is based on your sex, height, current weight, personal goals etc. This time around, given my weight today, I get 46 points worth of food to eat each day. Now that really is a decent amount, and I don’t ever go hungry. On the flip side, my Mrs, being half my weight, gets around 26 points on her allowance on Weight Watchers. To me that’s crazy low, but its all relative. Its of course a lot less points than I get, so a lot less food, but she doesn’t get hungry either because, she simply doesn’t need to consume as much food as I do, being a big guy!
Weight Watchers have taken all the hard work out of food tracking, and have assigned points to most, if not all foods ie 1 large boiled egg is just 3 points, a portion of spaghetti bolognese is 10 points, or a McDonalds Big Mac and Fries is 27 points!! So basically, whatever you eat, you just track in the app, and as long as you don’t go over your daily points allowance, in theory, you will loss weight – and to be honest, its always worked for me!
Recently, it also looks like Weight Watchers have partnered with Hello Fresh! I’ve been using Hello Fresh for the past year or so, and love it! There’s plenty of variety and the meals are not too complicated and quick to make, so fit in with my busy day. Hello Fresh’s ‘Weight Watchers Approved’ meals are healthier than their usual range, and come with Weight Watchers points already calculated, which is really handy too.
Overall, I can totally recommend using Weight Watchers. If you are thinking about it visit their site as they often have free trials so you can give it a go: https://www.weightwatchers.com/uk/
