On 1st September 2022 (last year), I started what was meant to be a new 1 year weight loss journey! I started off weighing 19 stone, or 266lbs, and wanted to get to 200lbs.
Well I truly managed to fcuk that up!
I started off alright – I had planned my main meals, which were be based around calorie controlled Hello Fresh meals, and I’d been tracking those on the Weight Watchers app. Plus I had got my ass back in the gym (my garage) and had even been brave/stupid enough to record those gym sessions for this website!
But, if you had been keeping up with the posts on my site, you could tell I just wasn’t into it. By the two month point, I’d put 5lbs back on, and by mid November I had 100% given up on it!
And here come the excuses…
Basically, I had a lot going on medically…
In October 2022 my right arm and shoulder started to hurt, but as I was in the gym a lot I just put it down to having done too much and pulled or strained it.
When it didn’t go away the other half made me go to the GP, who initially gave me a course of pills, but they didn’t do anything, so they sent me for a scan. This is where it got messy. VERY long story short, I ended up having multiple CT and MRI scans (9 in total over a 6 month period!) They scanned my arm, shoulder, spine, neck and finally head several times, plus I had a EMG (Electromyography) which is a test which passes electric shocks through your body so they can measure your reaction and it gives them info about your nerves and muscles apparently! THAT WASN’T FUN!! For 5 months I was also on 10 Amitriptyline tablets a day which are pretty heavy duty pain killers, which fcuked me up a bit, but still the pain didn’t get any better. On Dr’s orders I was also having physio weekly too.
I later found out they they were doing all this as they thought I had Multiple Sclerosis!!!! WTF! Finally, 9 months later, some bright spark in the NHS suggested I have 4 steroid injections, in my arm and shoulder, which finally fixed it!!! Why the fcuk they didn’t do that to start with I dont know!!! But at least they confirmed I didn’t have MS!
I don’t mean to sound like a little bitch telling you all this, but as you can imagine all this stuff just fcuked me off and the last thing i could be arsed with was dieting and going to the gym.
BUT NOW, I’M BACK!
This is it! Today is my birthday and this is my final year of my 40’s and I’m dead set on making sure I don’t go into my 50’s in this state!
I’m going to get back in the gym, starting today, and I’m also 100% back on the diet.
Current weight: 284lbs or 20 stone 4lbs. And for those paying attention, yes thats actually 18lbs (1 stone 4lbs) heavier than when I started dieting last year 🙁
Current measurements (at the widest points):
Neck – 19.5 Inches
Arse – 49 Inches
Belly – 53 Inches
GOAL WEIGHT – 200lbs – yes a 84lbs loss!
DEADLINE – 14th October 2024 – MY 50th BIRTHDAY!
Sidenote – To help keep me on track, I’ve also signed up to do the London to Brighton Bike Ride. Its a 54 mile charity ride and I’m doing it for the British Heart Foundation. It’s in June 2024, and I’ll be posting about that on here too. Here’s my Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/lee-freeman-london-to-brighton-2024
